Why not consider taking up a training course if you have just left school, further education college or university, have been made redundant, been unemployed for a while or been in the same job for a while but want a change.

Have a look at the options below and perhaps talk to a Careers Adviser if you feel you need some advice and guidance.


Training for Success

This programme is for 16-18 years olds (for those requiring additional support, training may be available up to 24 years of age).

Training for Success is all about giving you the tools and the confidence you need to get ready to find work. It focuses on the extra learning you need. Once you gain recognised skills and qualifications you are ready to move to the next level.

Whilst in training you will get help to prepare for the world of work. This will include :

Work placement in your chosen career  
Health and Safety
Life and Work Skills

ApprenticeshipsNI

This programme is open to all ages.

In order to enter ApprenticeshipNI you will need to find job in your chosen career area and you may have to satisfy the entry criteria set down by the employer. This could be GCSEs or equivalent.

Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of areas such as Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Joinery, Plumbing, Travel Services , Beauty Therapy and more.

Whilst doing an apprenticeship you will work towards NVQs at Level 2 or Level 3 and technical certificates.

Springboard 

 - a cross community, cross border organisation which helps young people aged 18-28 and their communities by providing skills and personal development opportunities within a local and international context.

Bridge to Employment 

- a pre-employment training programme that helps 18+ unemployed people get jobs whatever their experience of work

New Deal 

- gives unemployed people aged 18 to 24 and 25+ a chance to develop their potential, gain skills and experience and find work.

Training for Work (TfW)

- A vocational training programme aimed at assisting non- New Deal eliglible unemployed adults (18+), particularly the harder to help, to move into sustainable paid employment, by identifying their individual needs and by assisting them to obtain appropriate skills, experience and approved qualifications. 

Prince's Trust

- a UK charity which provides practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance to help 14-30 year olds realise their potential and change their lives. They focus on those who've struggled at school, been in care, been in trouble with the law, or are long-term unemployed.

The Disablement Advisory Service (DAS) 

- provides guidance, training, assessment and placing services for people with disabilities who wish to obtain or retain employment. These services are provided through a network of JobCentres across Northern Ireland.
It also offers a range of practical and financial help to employers recruiting and retaining disabled employees.  

Graduate Management Internship Programme

- a postgraduate employer based management development initiative aimed at giving future managers the necessary management skills to contribute to the performance and competitiveness of Northern Ireland industry.
