How you can help

Some of the most effective ways to help your daughter are:-

- Be positive and encourage her to find out about the areas that interest her

- What are her likes and dislikes? Focus on what she is good at  and raise her aspirations and expectations

- Avoid gender stereotyping when discussing career choice

- Take advantage of the information, advice and guidance available 

- Get involved by attending parents' events

- Go to careers exhibitions and open days at Further &Higher Education Colleges and Universities

- Support your daughter financially, as much as possible, through post school education

- Help with action points identified by a Careers Teacher or Careers Adviser

- When dealing with disappointment be positive and supportive, let your daughter know that there are always other options.
