Sector Training Councils recognise the skill, education and training needs of their sectors. They advise on the training standards for each sector and ensure that the training needs and standards are met. Here is a list of the Sector Training Councils: -
Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)
CITB supports the
construction industry’s need for a sufficient pool of competent people, trained in the skills needed to allow the industry to remain competitive and achieve growth.
Through training, either for new skills or through upskilling the workforce, CITB can offer a wide range of services that will ensure employees can carry out their work competently and safely.
CITB ensures that the standards of training are maintained, not just for craft skills, but also for supervisors and managers, to improve technical expertise and efficiency throughout the whole industry.

Electrical Training Trust(ETT)
ETT is the leading provider of specialised training services to the Electrical Industry in Northern Ireland.

Engineering Training Council(ETC)
ETC is an employer –led body, governed by a council whose members are elected to ensure a broad representation of the engineering community. The Council focuses on the provision of engineering training and education in Northern Ireland.

Food and Drink Training Council(FDTC)
The FDTC is the recognised Industry Training Organisation for food manufacturing. It has representation from trade associations, food sector, trade unions, and education and training providers.

Northern Ireland Polymers Association
The Northern Ireland Polymer Association is an organisation formed to represent and promote the various aspects of the Plastics and Rubber Industry within Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Film & Television Commission

Printing and Packaging Training Committee (PPTC)
The PPTC is involved in the production of text and images output in a range of permanent media formats with the purpose of conveying a message or information.
Security Industry Training Council (SITO)
SITO is involved in improving the quality and uptake of qualifications and training in the security and associated industries. It is responsible for working with Government departments and industry to establish training and qualifications standards for the security community.

TTT represents the tourism and hospitality industry’s training.

Transport Sector Training Council (TTS)
TTS Limited offers a comprehensive range of training courses for those involved in the Transport Industry.
Training offered is largely related to the Transport Industry, but not exclusively. Courses range from Driver Training on all types of vehicles: private cars, forklifts, Large Goods Vehicles and buses. There is also a host of courses for technicians and mechanics.

Wholesale and Retail Training Council (WRTC)
The Council represents the retail and wholesale business sector. It is a unique organisation, a non-profit making, charitable status company, which was set up in 1992 by the retail distributive trade. Its voluntary committee of management comprises representatives from the retail and wholesale sector.
All the trainers and management staff in the organisation have previously worked within management positions in the distributive trade. They understand the problems, issues and needs of the industry from first hand experience. The combination of their wholesale and retail experience, coupled with their expertise in identifying training needs, programme design and training delivery means that the WRTC is uniquely placed to offer effective training solutions customised to your needs.
